Just a little FYI to all of you out there. I've finally gotten around to putting up a twitter feed. Now I can add more content fast! Follow me by clicking on the twitter link on the top right of the page and start getting some internet marketing advice.

Making money online is about credibility

I'm sure you think about who you are buying from when you make a purchase, yet do you think about how you are perceived by your potential customers? Are you a credible source of information in your internet marketing niche? Does your online business have a way to connect to possible customers? They should be able to get a feeling of who the person is behind the money making website or blog. I'm at fault of doing this. I should be more open about me and what I do. It's just taken me awhile to figure this out. Hey, I don't have some internet marketing guru to show me the ropes, I've learned everything that I have through common sense and mistakes. (Probably the best way to learn?)

Something to think about anyway.

What I wish I knew as an internet marketer way back when...

I remember starting out two years ago as an internet marketer. I was still working for someone else in a job that I didn't much care for and wishing that there was a better way to make a living. There was, but that ship sailed by me back when I should have gone to college. That didn't really seem like much of an option anymore. Then a friend of mine told me about internet marketing. I immediately, like within seconds, scoffed at the idea thinking it nothing more than another pyramid scheme. My dad told me a long time ago that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Well that is what I knew back then and guess how far it had gotten me? It had gotten me a long way down a road filled with potholes of regret and curves of bad decisions.

Eventually I saw the kind of money my friend was pulling down on a weekly basis. It wasn't huge by any means but it was more than I was making and he didn't even have a job to go too."How much you making," I asked him. I thought he would be a bit pensive about giving out figures, but he told me that he was making eight hundred dollars a week. That was about five hundred dollars more than I was making per week, and he didn't have to check in with the man every morning. "How do you do it," I asked after I pulled myself up off the floor.
"Internet Marketing," is what he said. I still was a bit doubtful about all this. It still seemed to be a bit scamy. He was telling me about how he sold products, sometimes his and sometimes someone else's, on the internet. I left his house that night thinking more about what he said. I still wasn't convinced, but I was starting to open up a bit to the idea.

Then my friend had had enough of the cold winter weather and before November came around he had found a place down in Florida an up and moved. We lost touch after that, which was too bad because my learning curve could have been a lot shorter if I still had him around to help me out. Besides that, I missed having a few beers with him and talking about how sucky the Lions were. So Shortly after he left was the first time that I sat down to my computer and gave internet marketing a try.

Let me just say that right from the beginning I was off to a bad start. I didn't have a clue of what I was doing. I google searched for internet marketing businesses, and how to get started with internet marketing. I was practically blown back out of my chair by the amount of information that was readily available. I started with the first entry on the first page of google. That was where I went wrong...at least that was the first place where I was heading down the wrong path. I was basically reading a squeeze page on how to go about starting my own business on the internet and got suckered into buying a forty dollar e-book right then. Boy did I have some high hopes as I started reading through all that material. What it essentially boiled down to was buying into this guys line of products and then getting others to to start selling the product for me. It turned out to be the exact scam that I was afraid of getting into in the first place. Needless to say, this did turn me off from trying to do anything related to internet marketing for some time.

But it was always there in the back of my mind. I was always thinking about the internet marketing and how it made sense that I could reach out to a global market place, with those types of numbers making sales and making enough money to live on comfortably had to be possible. I just had to figure out how to make that possible. I liked doing sales and the thought of making sales why I slept kept me coming back to the internet marketing table.

So I started again. This time I decided that I wasn't going to go in for all of the scams of buying this and that to learn how to make money fast. I decided I was going to take the time to think things through on my own and figure out a way to go about selling online. It probably would have been easier to get a mentor, but that cost money, and that just wasn't something that I had a lot of. I started thinking about what I knew about offline sales. People really only bought when they had a need. Some people in sales call this a buyers pain. The buyer must have some sort of pain or else they aren't going to buy. I knew this to be true from what I knew of sales. So I started to thinking about what pains people would have and more importantly what pains would people have that they would turn to the internet for. To translate this into other terms: I looked to niches where people would likely find and buy answers to their problems online. I'm not going to give you the niches that I found because, depending on when you read this, these niches might be obsolete or just plain gone. The idea that you need to take away from this is that you have to find a specific market where there is a large need for answers or products.

I'm going to stop here with this part of the common sense story. I'm going to be writing down the rest of my common sense internet marketing approach and how I make my money from the beginning all the way up to how I make my money now. I'm working on the report that I'm going to be selling for $49.00. If you are interested I'm going to give the first 100 buyers the chance to pre-order this now for $35.00. At the time that this post goes up on my site, I will have the report done and sent out to all the pre-orders on March 11th, 2012. Also, for the first 100 pre-orders I get I will include the rest of the month to send me questions via my personal email and I will answer you about internet marketing and questions you may have concerning this topic. Just click on the PayPal button and you will get your report shortly, plus the access to pick my brain for the rest of the month if you order now. Nowhere else could you get an internet marketing mentor for just thirty five bucks!

Sorry, I'm sold out for now.

Do you sell other's products or your own. Why you should try both.

If you're reading this you probably have a blog or a website where you are trying to make money. Making money online isn't an easy thing. Making money at all is not really an easy thing, however getting people to open up their wallets is harder then spending your time working in exchange for money. You're probably one of those people who want to leverage their time more so, in order to make a passive income. Passive income meaning that you are making money while not actually spending your time in exchange for money. It's basically what you might be intending your website or blog to be doing for you. Have you thought much about how you go about that? Do you know the best way for you to go about this? Let's talk about that for a moment.

There are two simple ways to make money online. They are simple but they are not exactly easy. There is a big difference there! The first way of making money online is to sell other people's products. This is known as affiliate marketing and is a great way to get started making money through your website or blog. What this means is that you are going to sell someone else's product, usually a digital product, and when someone buys this product from a link on your website or blog, you will earn a commission on the sale. Quite often these commission are very nice, and often range in the forty percent to eighty percent range. That's pretty good for spending a few hours putting together a blog or website and adding some high quality content to the site to get people to come to it. There are a few drawbacks to this approach to internet marketing and how you might go about making money on the internet, but it's a great way to get your feet wet and earn your chops in this field.
The drawback is that you are selling someone else's product and that you don't make all of the money. It's nice to be able to sell something, but it's better when you are making all the money for the hard work you do to bring people to your site. Next, it adds one more layer of trust that the person has to buy in too before buying the product. Unless the buyer is in great need of what you're selling there is going to be some hesitation on the part of the buyer to give you their money.

Next lets talk about creating your own product. One of the biggest benefits of doing this is that if you create a product that you are passionate about, that passion will show through in the product and also in the marketing and selling of the product. In addition, if you create something in an area that you are passionate about, you will most likely have a good amount of information on what the market is like for this product; do others readily buy what you are selling; are the people in this market people that have the money to buy anything; and other points of knowledge that can dramatically help you in making sales.

That doesn't mean that you have to create a product that you are passionate about and that's that. You can make a product for any segment of the market, but your passion will help sell what you produce if you are already interested in the subject. Many people choose to make products for a market that has a lot of interested buyers and may not be something that they are very interested in, that's fine, as long as the product is honest about what it offers and that it is something that will be seen as value to those in that market. You might produce the best bottle of sparkling water the world has ever seen, but if people aren't thirsty, you're not going to make very many sales. You have to sell what people want, it's that simple, and something many don't get. They will try and try and try to beat people over the head with double talk, and little schemes such as getting the person to answer a lot questions in the positive before asking for the sale. These types of sales tactics are old and outdated, and I really question if they worked in the first place. When there is a need, people will buy, you just have to make sure that you are in front of those people enough that when they have a need they will remember you, or that you are around so much that you are bound to find people right then that are in need of  what you sell.

Sales is a tough, but very rewarding profession, and by being creative when you are starting out and trying both of these methods you will quickly come to find out which way is the better path for you...or possibly they both are viable means of sales for you.

Five tips for making money online fast.

Are you trying to figure out how to make money online? Have you been trying for a while now and feel that you are just spinning your wheels? It can be tough to make money online. I know it, I've been there. At first I was scratching my head, trying to figure out how to find people who wanted the stuff I sell, and how to find stuff to sell the people want.

Below are five tips that I've learned over the years that have helped me become where I want to be financially.

1. Don't try to sell to everyone. You're never going to do this, and it's one of the quickest ways to spiral down into a lackluster internet business with very little to show for it. You see, the internet is a global thing, obviously, and there is so much out there to do, to find, and to learn about, you cannot have a single message for all the people on the internet-it's just not possible. Stick to a core idea for each website or blog or whatever you use to get the word out about what you have to sell.

2. Test out ideas in small batches. Not sure if you have the next great idea of how to make money online? Take your idea and try it out on a very small scale. If it makes a little bit of money, great! That means that your idea works and that you can replicate this money making scheme on a larger scale. By doing it this way, you don't have to take a lot of risk to find out if something works for you or not.

3. Stick to what you either know about, or stick to things that interest you. It makes your life so much easier to have your work revolve around something that you enjoy doing, or enjoy learning more about. You need to become an expert in what you are selling and if you don't have a passion for what you are trying to get other to plunk down hard earned cash for, then you are making your life harder for yourself.

4. Try selling other people's products at first. This is easier than spending your time creating something of your own that others will want, plus trying to build the business and market the business as well. Try affiliate marketing. This is where you promote other people's products and make a commission when someone purchases it. This is a great beginning business for newcomers to the internet marketing world.

5. Once you have your feet wet and have gained some experience in internet marketing, try selling your own product. Create an ebook, write some software, or have someone else create something for you and sell that. Just make sure that you own all the rights to the product. This means that you are in control. You get to set the price for the product and you get to keep all the profits, instead of getting a commission on the sale.

These are just a few tips on how to make money online. Be sure to come back for more, as there will be more tips on the way.
